Alteryx fast, easy, useful but lagging in the market a bit...
- Good at sifting huge data on premises... It fits big data in your desktop
- The productization of an analytics pipeline is extremely easy, lowcode, nocode...
- New AutoML capabilities and it's implementation using Alteryx promote turns a desktop capability to enterprise scale...
- It requires embedded BI with Natural language querying capabilities...
- They introduced GenAI capabilities with lowcode nocode but the scope is a bit limited, it includes LLMS but not Stable diffusion like Image generators, and the timing was a bit late
- Alteryx totally lack Event stream processing, both listening and small (device embedded) model deployment capabilities which are required in Iot or AIoT businesses
Why Alteryx? - Because it replaces most manual Excel "processes"
- user friendly
- easy to use
- smart tool
- helps to reduce manual effort
- enables date driven decisions
- expensive license
- some times tool is slow when volume of data is high
- takes some time to get up to speed with working with alteryx, because at the beginning it's quite complex to understand how it works, but then quite easy to use
Alteryx is awesome for the professional analyst, and a bit much for the non-analyst user.
- Data wrangling
- Data visualization
- Data modeling
- Alteryx is great for processes that is has already "thought through". It's more difficult to get Alteryx to deal with some customization.
- The data visualizations with Alteryx are generally good, although I don't think the color schemes are the best.
- I think the data science capabilities are awesome with Alteryx, although not as well used as products built with Python or R.

- Steeper Learning Curve: Alteryx can have a steep learning curve for users who are new to the platform or have limited experience with data analytics. Enhancements to the user interface and user onboarding resources could help make the learning process more intuitive and accessible to a wider range of users.
- Enhanced Data Visualization Capabilities: Alteryx offers basic data visualization capabilities, but there is room for improvement in terms of advanced visualizations and interactive dashboarding features. Adding more sophisticated chart types, interactive widgets, and customization options would enhance the data visualization capabilities within the platform.
- Improved Error Handling and Debugging: Alteryx provides error handling mechanisms, but enhancing the error reporting and debugging capabilities would be beneficial. Improved error messages, better visibility into data flow, and debugging tools could help users troubleshoot and resolve issues more efficiently.
- Data Preparation and Integration: Alteryx excels in data preparation tasks, such as data cleansing, transformation, and integration.
- Predictive Analytics and Modeling : It enables users to perform complex statistical analysis and models and algorithms, making it more valuable for cases like customer segmentation, demand forecasting, fraud detection.
- Automation WorkFlows: Amazing for repetitive data processing task, or automated rescheduling.
- Real Time data processing, large scale big data processing, Heavy statistical computations.
- Data cleansing (ETL/ELT)
- Feature engineering
- Spatial analysis
- Joining data sets

Alteryx: Excel on Steroids
- Data Wrangling
- Ability to Handle Big Data files
- Easy functionalities, avoiding common excel formula pitfalls
- User must have significant knowledge of functionalities
- "Code Based" Software which provides a big learning gap
- Many intricacies that can ruin a whole workflow
Less appropriate, simple/ small data files not needing much manipulation. Logical excel formulas could be used to solve the issue.. etc.
Data and Automation Game Changer
- Ability to work with large data files
- Combining data sets that are in different formats, file types, etc.
- Automating workflows
- Offering a version for Mac
- More guidance when there is an error in your workflow
Automation at your fingertips!
- Low barrier to entry
- Connecting to ANY data source
- Fantastic Learning platform and community
- Free, recognised certifications
- automation
- To expand and shrink windows inside of Designer can be quite painful if you're not steady with your mouse!
- Cost if you wanted it for personal use
If you ever find that the tools in Alteryx do ALMOST what you need but you need them to be more dynamic for automation, you've got a whole toolset in Alteryx to help with this. Macros in Alteryx, and the interface tools, allow users to drill deeper into Alteryx to add the extra customisability when needed.
- Compatible with R and Python
- Good visualization of data to check its quality and integrity
- Easy to import, cleanse, manipulate and export data
- Pricing is steep
- APIs can be improved as connectivity to some data sources can be a challenge
- Visualization tools are good but nowhere as good as Tableau and PowerBI
Alteryx is great
- Cleaning
- Processing
- Spatial Analysis
- Combining sources
- UI
- Reporting Tools
- Data wrangling
- Automated output to Excel, Spotfire, Tableau, or many other formats
- Machine Learning
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Quick results: initial Alteryx workflow development has a very low learning curve. I was able to quickly get up-to-speed using the free online training resources.
Macros and server use can be challenging. But those are advanced topics.

Can't live without Alteryx!
- Blend data
- Format data
- Automate reports
- Prepare data for other apps like Tableau
- It is very hard to scroll within a workflow--it goes from slow to fast and no medium speed.
- I would love a feature to "pop out" the workflow to view in a full size window.
- Sometimes there are errors in the workflow that appear out of nowhere and resolve themselves. But it can cause the workflow to error out.
Alteryx is a Time Machine
- Large active community which has a lot of existing examples allowing users to find solutions very quickly. Whereas for more specific problems, a large active community also means there are always experienced users available to jump on and try to resolve any issues.
- Simple but powerful standard built-in workflow tools which can easily be leveraged to accomplish any assortment of tasks; due to their simplicity the processes can easily be explained and understood by all users alike.
- Swift performance coupled with excellent integration and compatibility with other platforms, where complex workflows can literally be performed in seconds while outputting into specific formats such as .hyper files for Tableau usage.
- Additional built-in examples of workflows and tools would be very handy for beginner users.
